Happy Birthday, Little Pookie (2010): I Was Told There’d Be Cake

Party hats for all!

Pookie has a father! Okay, that may not seem like such a big thing in a series of ten-page pre-lit board books, but as a father I was thrilled to see it. This wasn’t our favorite of the Pookie books, but take that with the codicil that Boynton’s B game is still better than 90% of the pre-lit books on the market; it’s simple, fun, and good to read right around birthday time. And, of course, if your kid is a Pookie fan, it’s a must-have. *** ½
