Short but sweet.

I first discovered Greg Gifune’s writing almost a decade ago with Heretics (which, I just discovered, is now available quite inexpensively in a digital edition—I cannot recommend it highly enough), and I have been a staunch fan of his work ever since. This short is no exception, moody, atmospheric, with a fine sense of pace that pushes us on to the inevitable ending we can’t help but wonder if Gifune is going to give us a way out of. Nicely done, this, as everything else Gifune I’ve read over the years. *** ½
